3 Easy Ways to Use Broth Every Day

This week, I want to focus on how to use broth in everyday cooking.

I know what you might be thinking.
“Broth, really?”

Hi friends,

Broth is one of the most versatile ingredients you can keep in your pantry or fridge.

The first recipe I shared this year was Homemade Chicken Broth.
That wasn’t random. Broth is an essential kitchen ingredient, and it’s important to know how to make it. But knowing how only matters if you also know why it’s useful.

That’s what today’s tip is about.

These ideas work just as well with store-bought broth.
Honestly, I buy more broth than I make. Convenience matters.
When you make your own, though, you control the flavor and salt to match your taste.

Here are three easy ways to use broth in everyday cooking:

1. Rice
Use broth instead of water.
It adds depth to white rice, brown rice, and seasoned rice dishes.

2. Sauces
Broth is great for deglazing pans.
It lifts the browned bits and builds flavor without overpowering the sauce.

3. Soups and braises
When making soups or braised dishes, use broth instead of water.
For chicken soup especially, chicken broth boosts flavor without extra ingredients.

Broth is also a good alternative to bouillon cubes or powdered seasonings.
Because it’s already liquid, you avoid gritty or undissolved bits in the final dish.

One more quick tip: use broth when reheating.
For rice, add a splash of broth to the pot to create steam.
For sauces and soups that thicken as they cool, use broth to loosen them while reheating—without watering down the flavor.

For store-bought options, I like Kettle & Fire, Pacific, and Kitchen Basics. These are easy to find at any supermarket.
They taste clean and don’t dominate the recipe.

Next week, I’ll share one of my current favorite kitchen tools.
